Beautiful Boston

Beautiful Boston - Neptune oyster bar

Boston’s little Italy is absolutely beautiful! And in little Italy you will find some of Boston’s best eats. One of them is Neptune Oyster Bar. I got a crudo made of bay scallops on top of rhubarb and olive oil which was so delicious that I could eat it all day! And I chose five oysters that are local and they were so perfect too! Love this place!

A market rich with history, Nishiki Market in Kyoto.

We are market people, we live by one of the best market’s in the world to prove it. So when we went to Nishiki market, it was our kind of thing. The first shop in this market dated back to 1310! (I believe I was some kind of a vendor in this market in one of my previous lives)

We were lucky enough to go to the store that has been open in this market for 400 years and have some amazing marinated sashimi! we also had tofu donuts, saw a master shucking oysters, eggs stuffed in to octopus heads and has some octopus balls, aka Takoyaki. This is a foodie’s heaven, so if you are a foodie, go here!

A stop at the Tokyo Ramen Street!

Here you will find 8 of the main ramen shops lined up in the “ramen street” inside Tokyo station and the most fascinating part of it was the order ticket machines! We really didn’t understand anything as all of the options were in Japanese so we just picked the the ramen bowl with the most deeply colored broth. The broth was delicious and it was such a great experience!

Japan Adventures  - Tsukiji Market & Sushi !

Our Japan trip was incredible! How can it not be incredible when our first adventure was to wake up at 4.00 AM and go to the world’s biggest market!? and have a sushi breakfast at 6.00 AM? :D

Tsukiji market carries an immense variety of seafood, and some things/fish that we have never seen in our lives and probably never will! The inner market contains all the seafood and the tuna auction and the outer market has sweets, restaurants, pottery etc. Be careful when walking around the market because we almost got run over by trucks and wheel barrows.

Sushi Daiwa is a very famous spot in the market and people were lining up here at 4.30 AM and still had a four hour wait. We did not do that, we just lined up for one hour (which still is a long time) but it was worth it because we had the best sushi we have had in our lives yet in this little 12 seater sushi spot with a funny chef who tried to scare me by throwing a big piece of raw tuna on my face, and it worked.

If you are ever in Tokyo, this market is a must! Roam around a bit, marvel at seafood you have never seen before and enjoy sushi that it sourced right from the market at 6.00 AM, it is once in a lifetime experience :)

Radiator Whiskey - Pike Place market, Seattle

After Joule we dragged ourselves to get coffee at Milstead & Co. to wake up from our food coma, we have been to Milstead a couple times and it’s a great spot!

Couple hours later we were at a friend’s hilarious play which ran late and left us hungry. So we wandered over to radiator whiskey, thinking we probably won’t get a table given that it has become such a popular eatery even though they are fairly new! We live hop skip and jump away from this place and we have tried to get in here for dinner many times and it has always been booked up! But we did get lucky this time, thus making our day an epic foodie day!

Of course we got the famous pork shank to see what all this buzz is about, and the buzz is right and it’s worth it! This pork shank is marinated for three days so when you eat it, it’s moist, it’s flavorful, it’s everything! Fried and crispy outside, moist and amazing inside! The dish is served with goat horn peppers that complement the pork so well! Whoever thought of throwing this pig in marination for that long is a genius! We also got the fried beef lip terrine which was also good, but our favorite for sure is the beautiful pork shank!

The ambiance is amazing, a great crowd hangs out here on weekend nights, it’s lively, they have great drinks and the decor really contributes to the ambiance. That pork shank completed our epic foodie day :)

Joule - Fremont, Seattle

Epic food days need to be noted down on calendars and celebrated every year! We had such an amazing foodie day last Saturday that it would be a crime if we didn’t share it with you! Even though this epic food day only consisted of two meals, those two meals made up for a whole weekend of foodie happiness :)

Let’s start with brunch at Joule. It’s a beautiful, modern space, equipped with a fire pit readily available for some cuddling and PDA ;) They have a brunch system with appetizers as buffet and you pick an item from the menu to be made for you in the kitchen. We walk up to the buffet with no expectations, it’s just a buffet with some salads and cheese, no big deal. WRONG! It’s a very big deal! The cheese is the best ever, the crackers taste like pizzas! The apricot is divine, the apricot on the crackers with cheese is surreal! and we are usually not salad people, but these salads my friend, kale with beans and the anchovy salads were amazing! Needless to say we went for seconds. (The buffet changes, this was Italian themed, it could be different when you go)

Then came our entrees, they were RIDICULOUS! We ordered the Waffle and the Steak. The waffle was a sesame waffle, with steak fried in fried chicken batter and a smoky sweet maple that kind of reminded me of George Clooney (No idea why!). The steak was a lean coulotte cut cooked to perfection, it was crunchy on the outside, extremely flavorful and was sitting on top of a perfect cilantro chimchuri that just complemented and lifted the flavors over that damn roof!

Now that, was a great brunch.

Hey all! We have had such an epic day of eating today we can’t wait to write up about it! But right now we can’t cos we are way too full and have crashed on the couch unable to move or think. Posts soon!!!! :)

Wishing we had a fireplace at home to cuddle and pass out from this food coma right now!
